So Ciara, from getting to know you I know you have a wide range of interest and hobbies. Can you tell our readers what they are?
Besides coding I love to do arts and crafts, dancing, drama, singing. I’m going to be in a pantomime later this year.
Yes, because I’ll get my cast off (I broke my wrist a few weeks ago) and summer is always fun as we always go to cool places.
Coding is a way to make games, website and robotics and other technology. It’s a computer language made out of numbers and very small words and signs. Each of these tells the computer to do a certain function.
I went to Coderdojo girls in DCU and I learned there from the group work and asked my dad what everything means and does and after a year or so I finally understood it. I’m still learning though.
My brother Ethan because he’s taught himself how to do animation, CGI, and cool games. Everything inspires me really cause everything is so cool, colorful and you can always get an idea out of something.
Because coding is cool and it’s not just about making games, it’s not just for boys. You can design clothes, make a game you’ve always dreamed of making. Girls should learn to code because it’s always good to learn what’s behind new things, how website work and stuff. Girls can do everything boys can do, we just need more girls to get coding!
I want to be a teacher when I grow up. I want to teach coding and technology in secondary school or college.
Ciara Hogan is my best coder friend. She’s been away this year but she has always taught me and helped me along the way. She is always showing me new things and she’s just really cool to hang out with.
